----- Original Message ----- From: Michael Brown - mbrown297@xxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: certification question Hi. My wife and I are planning on moving to Israel in the next year or so. I have been working the last 12 years in a k-8 district in NJ. I am certified as a school media specialist (or, as I like to say - a librarian) and also a k-8 teacher. I am considering getting my TESOL certification here in the States before I leave for Israel. I am a bit confused by the information I am reading online. With US teacher and TESOL certification can I find a job teaching English in Israel or do I need to complete a year-long Ministry of Education course? Is it more worthwhile to get TESOL certification also in Israel if I already need to take a year off studying? Is there a stipend for these courses? My Hebrew is pretty good. Though I would not consider myself fluent, I can speak, read and write on a fairly high level. I lived in Israel previously with my wife from 1979-1989. (I am 52 years old.) We would greaty prefer to relocate either to the Negev or the Upper Galilee. Any clarifications or information regarding the job market would be greatly appreciated.
