----- Original Message ----- From: "Judy Givati" <jesg50@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: discrepancy in grades I'm not sure which discrepancy everyone is talking about..but my problem remains the same that I point out EVERY year.... which is the yearly grade is based not only on tests and the matchonet but also on YEARLY WORK... and I have students who easily get 90+ on the matchonet and in the Bagrut itself but do little or nothing in preparing tasks (book, literature, class and home assignments). This creates the discrepancy between the Bagrut results and the yearly grade....leading to a "heated' discussion between the "rechaz shkicvah"....( And how does one translate that?? ) and me. Of course, I, a believer in a yearly grade that reflects the year's work- comes off as being "inflexible" (the bad guy).... Every year the issue remains unsolved and I am made to feel that if the Ministry c omes down on us I'll be hung out to dry... Why- and I ask this EVERY year.. isn't there some one in the Ministry who is aware that there is a possible discrepancy because the work considered for the yearly gr and those points tested on the BAgrut..ARE NOT THE SAME ????? (And anyone who claims otherwise has not be in a BAgrut prep classrm lately!!! ) jesg ----------------------------------------------- ** Etni homepage - www.etni.org ** ** for help - ask@xxxxxxxx ** ** to post to this list - etni@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** -----------------------------------------------
