I think it is correct to say either the show ended / has ended / or was
ended. The show was indeed ended by the producers or investors, or whatever.
Ended can be used both as a transitive or intransitive verb (see dictionary
entry below), so it can be used in the passive.
[intransitive and transitive] if a situation or activity ends, or if
someone or something ends it, it finishes or stops [≠ start, begin]:
World War II ended in 1945.
