I see them amongst my pupils all the time. I advise most of them to ignore the dispensations they have been given, and to work harder on their spelling and reading. Believe me, they do. Interestingly enough, the ones who are really having trouble try to claim that they can and will manage by themselves. I have to persuade them to accept the dispensations for exams, while struggling on to improve. I don't know whether teachers can fight this trend, but it is certainly something that is a danger to education. It is a hard thing to go against, though, because it is now an extremely profitable industry, and people don't like it when you endanger their income.
