Subject: Re: 4 or 5 points?

Hi,
A student only gets the Bonus of 25 points added to his final English grade in 5 points if he reaches 60 (final grade). The bonus is for the University calculation of the average Bagrut grade of all the subjects. In 4 points a student who finishes 4 points with a final grade of 60 or more gets a bonus of 12.5 points. If the pupil is very weak and may not get to 60 or will get say 65 (and therefore end up with 65+25 = 90), it is more worthwhile to do 4 points if there is a chance that he will get a high grade - say 82 which will give him a final grade of 94 with the bonus. If there is a chance that the student will fail 5 points he should do four - they cannot fail English and get a full Bagrut certificate! Hope this helps, Sarah

Does anyone have an official answer as to whether it is more worthwhile
for a student to get a high grade on a 4 point bagrut, rather than a low
grade on a 5 point bagrut?
I would be grateful for any input on this issue.
