Dear Friends, I agree with Patricia that HOTS is definitely not something that has been newly invented. Without the ability to think and reason, we would be no better than the lower animals. Many students score poorly on achievement tests in the areas of problem solving, communication, making inferences, etc. due to their inability to think critically. Use HOTS to your advantage. Be creative and the results will amaze you! I teach kindergarten and it is second nature for me to incorporate HOTS in everything we do. Have fun and embrace HOTS. However, we should try to sort them out and it is a fact that HOTS is no new gobbledy-gook. If you Google the term - Higher Order Thinking Skills - together with education you will find hundreds of sites explaining how to use HOTS in the classroom, many of which will tell you that HOTS is based on the publication of Blooms Taxonomy from 1956. You may believe it is gobbledy-gook (I love that expression!) but it has definitely been around for many years. ----------------------------------------------- ** Etni homepage - http://www.etni.org or - http://www.etni.org.il ** ** for help - ask@xxxxxxxx ** ** to post to this list - etni@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** -----------------------------------------------
