Why doesn't the ministry make it easier for highly qualified teachers to get
their Israeli certification? I'm a US certified English teacher with a
Masters degree, 10 years experience in all kinds of classrooms, plus three
years teaching full time here in Israel. I love my students, my school and
my job, and I don't have the time or inclination to take all the courses
necessary to get My Israeli certification (without which my pay will never
increase). Furthermore, the courses are a far distance from my yishuv and
all in Hebrew. As a recent olah, I don't feel confident I could pass them.
I came to Israel to teach, but if I can't get certified, I'm thinking about
doing something else for a living. ----
