Just a small correction as to the latter part of the e-mail: a student who
does the external exam (and is only doing one or two of them, that is, not
the majority) still get the regular high school certificate. In addition,
the kind of certificate doesn't enter into any consideration for university
acceptance.
As to the issue of literature, I agree with you - but, the bottom line is
most teachers don't do any lit. or do a minimum, not that a new section in
the bagrut change that - it will just be another hated part of school by
teachers and students alike, rather than one done for enrichment and, yes,
even fun!
