As an ex-Montrealer I can tell you that the system changed many years ago. 
Now, after kids finish 11th grade they must go to a junior college to study 
for 2 years before going on to university.  So, in effect, they study up 
until the end of the 13th grade prior to university!!  I'm glad I finished a 
million years ago under the old system because I hated school, and here I 
am, a T-E-A-C-H-E-R!!!  That's what you call "just desserts".
