I don't agree with Daniel  at all.  I happen to love literature
more than anything I might want to teach (have to teach?).
On the other hand, our pupils do not live in Wisconsin or
Minnesota, far away from the realities of the Middle East,
and there is no way they can avoid it.

Allowing them to write during or after a terrorist attack and
not demanding they use that as their topic is a wonderful
way of escaping from the terrible realities of that moment.
However, ignoring the war we have all just experienced and
teaching "Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day",  seems
unrealistic.  I do not intend to discuss the politics or the military
aspects but rather their feelings and actions during that time.
