----- Original Message ----- From: sbshai - sbshai@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: shifting loads (# 267) You have a point, Leah, but I have to add that placing ALL the responsibility on a principal's support of his teachers cannot be the answer. While, I agree that it's time to take the load of exclusive responsibility off the overburdened teachers' backs, repositioning it on the principal's merely amounts to 'passing the buck'. No matter how we add up the figures, a teacher still comes out on top of the scale of importance in his/her role as educator. An effective administrator certainly realizes this and should ensure that his/her staff is the best (I realize that's a loaded word!), most dedicated that he/she can find -- and then work to consistently encourage such a staff (instead of constantly laying on non-teaching tasks, for example). I realize this sounds too good to be true, but we can dream, can't we?
