Subject: "teaching Bagrut"...NOT!

I recall a discussion at the beginning of the school year about "teaching Bagrut/Module this or that"...vs "teaching English".

To tie up that package...yesterday I had my last lesson with a group of 12th graders who I've taught since Sept., substituting for a teacher on maternity leave. They organized a lovely little party but the highlight was the speech one of them made, in the name of the class. The kids said, and I quote,
"Thank you for teaching us English and not Bagrut."

Don't give into the pressure and waste lesson after lesson with practice exams. Yes, we have to prepare the pupils for the exam. However, if we teach them English then we are doing just that.

Just thought I'd share......

Laurie
