Subject: A Literally Reflection on being an veteran English teacher

A Literally Reflection on being an veteran English teacher:

Had MY teenagers been Arthur Miller’s, Joe Keller would have already
died in Act I.

OR, due to the constant blaring of their music, Arthur Miller would
have had Joe shoot them with his gun.

If Robinson’s tranquility had been broken by all that endless, horrendous sound,

Richard Cory would have been given up; he’d never have made it to town!

Can you imagine Robert Frost with 80 tests or more all to grade in one night?

I’m sure he’d never have put down his pen to referee his teenagers’ fight!

Dear Evelyn, as I sit here passively [thanks to my earplugs], thinking
of ‘how way has led to way’,

teaching English has made all the difference………. and proudly a teacher
I’ll stay.

Generations and generations hence, if my body they ever exhume,

it will be found covered with still-ungraded papers, as I untimely
went to my doom.

MY arms will be crossed on my chest,………. an uneaten chocolate clenched
in one hand, a red marking pen in the other.

I hope that I’ll be remembered as somebody’s once beloved English
teacher……. not just a doting grandmother.
