Actually, this isn't true. Problem solving is defined as identifying a problem/dilemma in the text and/or possible solutions. I saw a very nice example of using problem solving on a Bagrut exam. The question about All My Sons was "Why doesn't Chris want his name on the business?" The student wrote that Chris has a dilemma -- although he has continues to work in the family business, he suspects that his father is guilty and he doesn't want to be associated with "dirty money". He solves his dilemma by telling Joe that he doesn't want his name on the business in order to relieve his own guilty conscience.
