---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Daniel Ashkenazy <yosefdaniel99@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: English spelling 'too difficult for children'? Colleagues event the mere notion that "English spelling is too difficult for children is a load of nonesense. IT is a failure of the education system that students cannot spell in English. I learned how to spell in two languages growing up in Canada and have taught many students over the past 18 years spelling in English. A young girl in the ninth grade here in Jerusalem was diagnosed as having spelling problems. I spent two hours with her after class and we determined together the problem was not her but the system. She told me a few years later she passed with five point English bagrut with a 95% and no spelling mistakes. Israelis can learn to spell in English too. We must never allow our students to fail because we fail to teach. -- Daniel Ashkenazy Educator, Writer, Guide ----------------------------------------------- ** Etni homepage - http://www.etni.org ** for help - ask@xxxxxxxx ** ** to post to this list - etni@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** -----------------------------------------------
