This subject was dealt with at length during the negotiations between
the Irgun and the Inspectorate last year which I attended together
with several other teachers.
It seems that we basically have been sold out by our union on this one.
When Shai Peron was Minister of education, he carried out a reform in
the Bagrut exams as we all know. 30% of the grade is meant to be given
according to "alternative assessment." In all subjects, it seems,
teachers can opt to give an internal exam as part of the 30%. However,
they do not get paid for this. Teachers that opt to do what is called
an "Avodat Cheker" with their pupils will get paid. The log that was
anyway in place before this reform is considered an Avodat Cheker.
Therefore, teachers get paid.
I know that this whole situation is ridiculous and I tried to point
this out to Nurit Valenci during the meeting, but she just insisted
that the log is an Avodat Cheker and the internal exam isn't. The
Irgun agreed to this and there is nothing we can do about it except to
go for the log if you want to get paid. In their present form, there
is no difference between the two except that for one you get
compensated. I moved over to the log from the exam and haven't
regretted it so far. In fact as soon as I heard that the exam was
going to be internal, I realised that it was not going to be a
worthwhile option.

I would like to know why I had to write, give and mark my own module F
lit. exam for my 11th. grade dovrim and will not receive a penny in
compensation for doing so? Those who did the LOG in their classes WERE
paid!
