---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Esther Revivo <estherrv@xxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: HOTS at ETAI Ruti wrote, "Tessa made it quite clear that her points were based on feedback received from a large number of teachers who HAD participated in the course but were unable to attend ETAI " I have a health issue (which caused me to go out on early pension 3 years ago,) that makes travel horrific for me. (I get migraines- the real "Knock down drag out, on the bed with curtains drawn" kind,) so sadly I couldn't travel to ETAI, and indeed have never been there. But, as many of the anti-HOTS folks, I too did take and indeed greatly enjoyed the HOTS course which was by far the best in-service course I've ever participated in! As Ruti also mentioned, "....We do not want a program which is pedagogically unsound, which will cause our weak pupils to fail...' For me, the last words 'WHICH WILL CAUSE OUR WEAK PUPILS TO FAIL' sums up my opposition to teaching literature with HOTS. I would be very appreciative if other EFL teachers who work in the Tzvia network would drop me a line and tell me whether they'll be implementing the HOTS this fall or not. To those who are fasting tonight and tomorrow, may we have a 'tzom moeel!'To everyone, have a restful summer!!
