Hello everybody, I suppose most of you have realized that the 'victory' that is being claimed vis a vis HOTS might actually not be one. Since many teachers will choose to do the log, because it grants freedom of choice as to the pieces taught, HOTS are in! I must point out, as has been pointed out by others, that choosing to do the log will put the teachers under an enormous amount of pressure from parents and principals, and no amount of 'support' from the powers that be will counteract this. Furthurmore, as has been poointed out, but should be reiterated, with such a large part of the test now to be graded by the teacher, it hardly becomes the uniform, county-wide test it should be. I would also suggest getting rid of the year mark as part of the test. Other countries don't have it and if the exams were proper assessments of the students' knowlege of English, there would be no reason for them not to come to class. Lack of attendence would show up on the test.
