Subject: Looking for a teaching position in Israel

Hello,

My name is Sydney and I am an olah hadasha from California looking for
a teaching position here in Israel. I do speak some Hebrew, but am not
yet fluent enough to teach in the language. Therefore, it is my
preference to work in an international school or a school that would
allow for classes held in English.

I hold credentials for English, Biology/Life Science, General Science,
and Psychology and am certified in Cross-Cultural Language and
Academic Development (CLAD). My formal academic background includes a
BA in Legal Studies, BA Psychology (Intensive Track), and MA Teaching
from the University of California.

The experience I have in education runs the gamut: I have tutored
privately since high school; teaching assisted for Introduction to
Psychology, Environment & Society, and Biology of the Rainforest
during university; taught both integrated and segregated
mild-to-moderate special education Math and Science at the middle
school level; and English as a Second Language at the high school
level. My credentials cover all levels of education, including adult
learning.

Subject matter I am interested in teaching includes: Psychology,
Health, Biology/Life Science, English Composition, and English
Literature. I have had prior experience teaching middle school
Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, and Math, should an available position
be in Integrated Science. Middle school is my preferred grade level,
but I have succeeded in all age groups with which I have worked.
A passion of mine is encouraging young women to develop interests in
the sciences and realize their full potential as academics in all
fields. Another personal penchant is working with traditionally
marginalized groups.

Currently I study at Ulpan Etzion in Jerusalem and will be available
to teach beginning in mid-January. It is my preference to stay in
Jerusalem, but I am willing to relocate should the right opportunity
arise.

Also, I am datiyah and can fit in a variety of settings, both
religious and secular.

Should anyone have advice or job leads for me, I would greatly
appreciate their assistance. My CV, credential copy, transcripts, and
letters of recommendation are all available upon request.

Thank you in advance,

Sydney R. Taksar
