Subject: Music in Common at ORT Sharet, Nazareth Illit-Deir Hanna High School
Dear All,
Another amazing day on the MiC tour, this time in the north where ORT
Sharet, Nazareth Illit hosted Deir Hanna High School.
We were all amazed at how quickly, from the start, the kids made the
experience their own and led the way together. If they hadn't been
wearing MiC "back stage passes" with their names, I'd have had a tough
time knowing who was from each school as they immediately became one
group. They instantly became "... the friends they never knew." (Tommy

Following the icebreakers and brainstorming session on the theme, the
participants broke into groups to try their hand at writing lyrics and
music. Then back to the circle to share their thoughts, a shared lunch
and another go in groups. Finally, a pow-wow and together the song
came together, a fusion of rap pop rock, to be recorded tomorrow
morning. Can't wait!
I had an especially nice treat at the end of the day to meet over
coffee in downtown Nazareth with a young teacher with whom I'd worked
in the south a few years ago before he returned home to the north.
Wonderful catching up and exchanging stories. And if all goes well,
MiC will faciltate a workshop at his school in the near future.
