*"From the Field to the Museum "*
*This lecture will follow the shared history of Israeli archaeology and
archaeological museums examining the surprisingly close connection between
the two fields. The lecture will follow the journey of artifacts as they
make their way from history to discovery and into an exhibition display.
In particular, examples will be given from a recent exhibition the speaker
co-curated named "Ashkelon: A Retrospective, 30 years of The Leon Levy
Expedition"*
*Nurith Goshen, studied for her B.A. and M.A. in Art history and classical
archaeology at Tel Aviv University and is now working on her Ph.D. at
University of Pennsylvania, focusing on bronze age cultures in the Aegean
and the Levant. She is the curator of Chalcolithic and Bronze Age
archaeology at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem and works also as part of the
staff at the Kabri excavation.*
