Subject: The latest list intended for teachers of English

First of all, warm greetings to all the teachers of English in Israel!

In the middle of last year I distributed many lists which I thought
would be useful to teachers of English. I have now expanded each of
them and added a new list. The lists are numbered from 1 to 16. They
are listed below and are printed in alphabetical order.

If you are interested in any of the lists, just send me an e-mail
message, stating the sequence number of the item(s) in which you are
interested. If, by chance, you would like all 16 lists, just write ALL
and I shall be happy to, send all of them to you as soon as possible.

1. Alliterations (e.g. Long lLegged Ladies Last Longer)

2. Autonyms (e.g.child-parent,  day-night, black-white)

3. British and American Equivalent Terms (e.g. autumn-fall,  plaster-band aid)

4. E-Mail (e.g. Abbreviations, Writing an E-mail message, Replying to
an E-mail message)

5. Foreign Phrases Encountered in English (e.g. Latin and French Phrases)

6. Heteronyms (e,g, Accent a part of the same word for a different
meaning: CONtent , conTENT, DEfect, deFECT)

7. Homonyms (e.g. affair: a business matter and an amorous relationship)

8. Homophones (e.g. all and awl, cellar and seller)

9. Idioms (e.g. All ears, Thumbs up)

10. Onomatopoeia (e.g. bang, splash)

11. Palindromes (e.g. able was I ere I saw Elba)

12. Reversed Words (e.g. deliver à reviled, desserts à stressed)

13. Review of Basic English Grammar (e.g. Plurals of nouns, punctuation, etc.)

14. Spelling Difficult English Words (e.g. caustic, gauge, massacre

15. Transliterations from English directly into Hebrew (banana  and  telephone)

16. Word Processing (e.g. spelling and grammar checkers, word wrap,
famous gaffes,  troublesome transpositions)

I would be delighted to know which, if any, of the 16 categories
listed above proved to be worthwhile. All the best,

Henry Mullish
