---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Sharon Tzur <sharontzu5@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: audio of "the wave" Dear Friends: The Wave will be available as a Kindle book as of January 8th - for $6.99. The author is Tod Strasser. Turns out that Morton Rhue is a pen name. Here is the link. http://www.amazon.com/The-Wave-ebook/dp/B008LMD20O/ref=tmm_kin_title_0 You don't need a Kindle to read a Kindle book. Kindle books can be purchased and read on Kindle software applications (available for PC, IPhone, etc.) The book will be speech enabled, but that might only work on an actual Kindle. However, I read that one can download speech to text software for the Kindle software applications, and that software will read aloud ANY Kindle book, but in the mechanic voice that we associate with speech to text software. Here is the link for more information on that: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=kin_pcacc_surl&docId=1000632481 To open a Kindle Account, you need to supply a credit card number. I know that one can buy pre-paid credit cards at the post office for making purchases on the internet. I also know that one Kindle Account can be used over multiple devices... I think up to five, so a few students might be able to share an account. My computer is kind of slow and the bundle required to activate the speech to text software is large, so I am not going to try it out, but perhaps someone out there with students who need The Wave will take up the challenge and give it a try.
