Subject: cognates

Away from HOTS and the modular bagrut!

I am in the market for lists of cognates.  (We apparently use this
term incorrectly, but never mind.)

I have quite a large list myself, but am looking to expand it, as I am
trying to develop a program for one of my pupils in the third grade,
who has memory retrieval problems.

He is learning to read very efficiently, which is a great help to him,
as it gives him something physical to help remember words, but for the
time being, the more texts I can build up using cognates, the easier it
is for him.

Interestingly enough, playing card games with him, he is better than
most at remembering all the phrases and sentences that go with the
game, ie Do you have... Take a card, Your turn. Shuffle the pack, etc.

Anybody with experience and information in this very problematic area
of learning disabilities, is invited to share them with me.  Anything
I find successful I will also be delighted to share.
