I second Pamela's words. I am truly proud to have personally known
Penny for over 30 years, as well as to have worked with and studied
with and under. Listening to her lectures, whether one has heard them
before or not, is ever a source of inspiration. Studying with her was
truly unforgettable.
Any English teacher who has not read or used one of Penny's many books
must be a rarity. The red Grammar Practice book she brought out (and I
think won the Duke of Edinburgh's Award for years ago!) was my
"Bible"!
Kol Hakavod to Penny. English as a foreign/lingua franca not just in
Israel would be all the poorer but for you.

Congratulations to 'our' very own British/Israeli Penny Ur on being
on the Queen's New Year's Honours List and gaining an all important
award for her contribution to the language of English.

Read all about it on the back page of today's (December 30) 'Yediot
Achranot'.

I think everyone of us must be so very proud of Penny by bringing such
prestige to our profession.

Being a Brit myself, I'm doubly proud!

Well done Penny!
