DEAR all,

There seems to be some misinformation.. If you are doing the LOG , it
is your decision as their teacher whether they can use the piece of
literature. IT is OK to use it !! I have been doing logs for 3 years (
have had 3 classes complete logs) and I always let them bring the
pieces of literature to the summative assessment. AND still they do
NOT get a 100 !! The point is to have them be able to re-read lines
and remember.. They still have the hour and half to to take the test
and if they had not learned the material or read the story / poem in
class with us then they could not pass the test even if it's with them
during the Summative Assessment. I am not testing memory.. !!

So YES, if you are doing the LOG ,go ahead and let them use the
literature.  I can not answer to why the poems are no longer on the
external test .

All the best,
Aviva
PS the info about teachers being able to use the pieces of literature
is in the handbook.
