OK everybody.
I can’t find my exercises on the various types of ‘s’. I shall create
new ones. Anybody interested?
As I mentioned, Grammar Helper 2 has nice exercises on ‘s and s’,
pages 39 to 41, but, having taught them, I then look at all uses of s
– plural, 3rd person, ‘s and s’ – or is it just part of the word, like
‘glass’. It is less confusing than one might think.
As we all know, I’m sure, once pupils have learnt ‘s, they put in the
apostrophe whenever they see s. They seem to become immediately
mesmerized by this strange little symbol!
