From: Michelle Smilowitz <mmsmilo2@xxxxxxx> Subject: teaching English in Israel with American credentials/getting teudah horaah A friend of a friend in America asked me a question about transferring American credentials, and since the answers seem to change from minute to minute, I thought someone here might have up-to-date information. She is about to receive her BA in American (not in English). She is debating between two options for next year: 1) Go to a MA program in American in Education (special education?) and get a New York teacher's license. 2) Come to Israel and find a way to get a teudat horaah in one year's time. So, the questions are: - Is there a way for a person with an American BA to get a teudat horaah in one year? If so, where? (She is female and religious if that helps.) - If a person comes to Israel with a BA, an MA, and an American teacher's license, what needs to be done to convert this to an Israeli Rishayon Horaah? Thanks for any feedback. From personal experience, I know that the whole "transferring American credentials" process can be complicated.
