English classes are invited to participate in Gush Katif Education Week,
marked this year during the week of January 19th-24th, 2014 by using the
novel *Grains Of Sand: The Fall Of Neve Dekalim* by Shifra Shomron (Mazo
Publishers, 2007), a poignant account in English of the years leading to
Gush Katif’s final days. The author, a former Gush Katif resident, wrote
her novel while a teenager, giving the work important relevance to
students, who will benefit from reading a book penned by a peer and will
ideally be inspired to express their own voice through writing.

An easy-to-use Literature Study Guide for *Grains Of Sand: The Fall Of Neve
Dekalim* including post-reading activities and research project ideas is
available for free-downloading, in entirety or by subject, on
