Hi Chani,
About your Etni message - *How to increase the amount of vocabulary of the
girl:*
I recommend working with her on English to Hebrew translation.
Just pick any text.
*Work sentence by sentence. *
*Work the words of the sentence one after another,*
*Until you reach the period at the end of the sentence.*
*Then Hebrew edit your sentence translation, and make a few changes so *
*that it is the best translation possible.*
*At first - leave some English words you don't know inside the Hebrew
translation, in the appropriate places, as you understand it in stage 1 of
the sentence translation.*
*Example:*
*The boy went to school.*
*suppose she does not know what 'went' means.*
*Then the translation would be:*
*×××× went ×××ת ×ספר.*
*LATER - she will find how to improve on the first stage translation.*
And *EVEN LATER* - in the third or fourth stage of the SENTENCE TRANSLATION
- it will be complete and good.
You can have the whole paragraph stage1-translated. And only then do stage2.
Or alternatively - you can stage1-translate one sentence and then
stage2-improve that sentence translation.
Or mixed.
Then stage-3-improve the sentence or paragraph, and the stage-4-improve the
sentence or the paragraph.
etc.
Until you are happy with the Hebrew sentence / paragraph.
===
*Have a paper English to Hebrew dictionary on the table.*
Such as ××ק××¢× (that's the best) or Oxford.
*Have the computer open on Morphix site - ××רפ×קס - an online
English-Hebrew Dictionary.*
do a paraghraph each day. Or more.
*Have the ABC list of letters on a paper on the table.*
*Make the girl open the paper and electronic English to Hebrew Dictionary
again and again,*
for words she is not familiar with. It doesn't have to be each
and every word at the begining.
Have her try *guessing *the meaning first, now and then.
*Take your time.*
Quality is more important than quantity!
*Sometimes look in ××רפ×קס online dictionary,*
*and sometimes look in the paper dictionary.*
Notice that sometimes the paper dictionary has many related words.
Read them too.
No hurry.
Then go back to your *SENTENCE* (until the *PERIOD*).
*Have the girl write each Hebrew sentence below the English one.*
*Or side by side on the NOTEBOOK (not papers!!!).*
===There are plenty of free texts in the internet.
You can search for : 'How to make rolls of bread' on youtube and/or Google.
or search for: 'Paris'.
or search for: 'skills for University/College'.
or search for: 'how to be rich'
or search for: 'dresses'
or open the English *Wikipedia* on any topic and surf it. such as 'global
warming',
or 'gold', or
'Charlie Chaplin', etc...
open the Hebrew ××ק×פ××× too.
Open a new *WORD file* on the *desktop *and *copy and paste* the Wikipedia
*link *and the ××ק×פ××× link. and whatever you wish.
and so on.
*Have fun!!!*
Each English study book you have in the house is also good.
Just choose a paragraph / page and decide you are both going to translate
it.
Have lots of patience. Don't give advice/suggestions/remarks. Just look at
her work.
*By the time you get to september* - the girl will have earned a new skill
-
English to Hebrew translation.
And she will know how to open dictionaries, and google, and youtube, and
WIKI.
And *she will be ready for every English paragraph challenge*.
××צ×××!!!
*Best Wishes!!!*
