One thing in favor of this idea: it is viable. The current law holds
the right of the workers to unionize - so no-one can stop the English
teachers from forming their own union.

And this could bring about the change from within: if every subject
group forms their won union - and then create an upper-level structure
representing them as a whole - then the current Irgun and Histadrut
will become redundant. You just stop paying the Irgun/Histadrut dues
(I did that many years ago - but they probably did not feel the
terrible loss right away...). I've been writing about it for a long
time: give them the sack by stopping your money trickle. No need to
even start all the noise about the elections. Just dry them up.

OK, let's have a poll.

But before that: I suggest creating a list of all the "for" and
"against" the current union. What good does it REALLY do (not
according to their "letters to members" - I mean, REAL good you can
put your finger at)? And how much does it cost you to keep them doing
whatever good they have done? Any English teachers around that can
also count? (They say there are three kinds of people - those who can
count and those who cannot... Guess which one I belong to... LOL)

How much does an average teacher pay the Irgun per year? How many
English teachers are there? Multiply A by B - and you get the amount
of money you can collect annually as a newly-formed union.

Now imagine how many good things could be achieved using this amount of money.
