Hello Everyone,

I, too, took the Literature Course this year. I took the online version and
thoroughly enjoyed it. I found the course to be well-organized and the
Matach site easy to use. I learned an incredible amount about HOTS, not
only in theory but in experience as well. The course was hard, but in the
challenging way and I was definitely forced to use my brain power to the
maximum. We joked that it is not only the students who are working on their
Higher Order Thinking Skills! Our instructor, Aviva Shapiro, was there for
us through thick and thin, guiding our every move and making sure that we
understood the material really well. You should have been at our last F2F.
The unanimous praise for Aviva and the course in general was incredible. As
Aviva said in her posting, the course is not perfect but it is a work in
progress and I believe a good one. Although I am a junior high teacher, I
was encouraged to take the course by my supervisor, Roberta Levine (May she
have a positive and productive retirement.) and I am really glad that I did.
Almost everything I learned from the course can be adapted to the junior
high so I don't understand the concern about teaching it to 4 pointers. As
long as it is adapted properly, it can be made suitable for them.

All the best,

Shoshana Kent
