Dear All, Leaving aside the arguments of HOTS in our Literature classes and referring to the book series Literature and Thinking (mentioned by Adele), I personally found this collection to be quite interesting. Studying literature texts surrounding a specific theme, approaching the texts with specific questions in mind, bringing in the history is quite nice. And while some may argue they are and have been doing this anyway (as do/have I) - how nice to have a textbook that has it all there. I would much prefer to have this series as our textbooks rather than looking at one unseen after another. I don't know about you, but I would love to teach World History or Social Studies as part of the English curriculum - just think of what interesting texts we could read, literature, writing, projects, and best of all - give Israeli students exposure to world history that they won't otherwise get. Awaiting your hate mail,Louise :) _________________________________________________________________ Your E-mail and More On-the-Go.
