**** ETNI on the web http://www.etni.org.il http://www.etni.org **** Dear All Teachers, During the last week, I read with interest the letters of E Module teachers, many of whom have years of teaching experience in addition to being active, I'm sure, in the NBA courses. Their concern over the differences in student test marks and teacher year marks struck a chord and with great fear I made "my list" today while at school. Now it's my turn to be more than surprised in so many cases and though I was active in NBA courses too and was very strict in taking off points for spelling and grammar in tests and practices, I am amazed at the discrepancies. After all, we do know our students. I am no less concerned and unhappy than many of you and strongly urge the Inspectorate to have some kind of study day/seminar so that we can be instructed as to where we went wrong and even go over the exams with those who corrected them, just to give us an idea. Kind of like a "hands-on rubric"???? As a fairly veteran teacher, it has rocked my boat more than it was ready to be knocked... Perhaps other teachers have some ideas of how we can better provide for our students in order to give them an honest reflection of what to expect. Any other ideas, meeting with graders? meetings with inspectorate? meeting with Marvad people? Our goal is to have students understand and apply what they learn, but both they and I will start the new year with a knot in our stomachs. Hopefully, we will deal with this blow positively.
