The worksheet center idea is certainly a good one. But I have a more modest
and maybe more achievable idea. How about using one of the free forums to
create a separate space where all the teachers using one book could go to
share ideas and worksheets. For example how many teachers are there, spread
out all over Israel, using the book "New Trends". I find that it's a good
book, but a bit hard for my class, so I end up creating easier worksheets to
use in class. There are probably other teachers doing exactly the same
thing. I think we should all keep in touch on the New Trends forum so we can
share ideas and worksheets. I think this is not overly ambitious, just a
modest but needed resource.

Please respond to this email address if you would be interested in this forum.

Thanks Lev for offering to provide the infrastructure for a searchable
worksheet/activity/ project bank.
Of course, we still have to find someone who will be able/willing to
handle the everyday work of operating this bank, but having the
infrastructure is halfway there.

I am finding it difficult enough handling all of the present ETNI stuff,
so if there is someone out there who wants to volunteer to try and run
this worksheet/activity/ project bank, let us know. If we don't get any
volunteers, I will try to give it a go.

I can provide the framework (infrastructure) for a searchable
worksheet / activity / project bank - a site that will have a
list of textbooks sorted by elementary/JH/HS, each book
divided into chapters (+ a section for additional materials that
are not chapter-specific), with all the materials listed and easy
to find. The site will be password-protected so as to restrict
access - teachers will be able to browse it while pupils won't.

Submission will be simplified - just click "Browse" => find the
worksheet on your machine that you want to upload => click
"Submit." Add comments like book title and chapter number,
probably page number if this is important.

The worksheets will be laid out in two formats - .pdf and .doc
(editable) - so that those who want to change smth will be
able to edit them, while those who just want to download and
print "as is" will have a "locked" copy.

The site will be hosted on my server and backed up once
every 24 hours. No forced advertizing of any sort. A link at
the ETNI site will lead to the collection of worksheets.

Questions:

1. Is this acceptable for the community - or does it have to
physically be hosted at the same server?

2. In case the answer to #1 is affirmative: I will hardly be
able to handle the everyday work (sorting things out,
proofreading, pdf conversion etc), so this project will require
a moderator with admin access privileges. I will provide all
the necessary instruction and training.

Any takers?

David?

Best -

Lev
