Hi- This morning I was asked if I can work with this boy on reading and vocabulary. In school, he is actually at a high-functioning four-point level and does better in grammar and more 'exacting' exercises than in reading, vocabulary and unseens. My task is to push him forward in the latter areas. Until now his mother has been reading with him but his form of teenage rebellion is that he doesn't want to do this arrangement any more; he is super-quiet and reserved. My advice to her was to just concentrate on being his mother and not put other points of conflict in the middle! So, I am looking for reading sources that are suitable for a Hebrew native-language speaking English learner. His school text and workbook are: 'It Makes Sense." I want them to be interesting to him. And, I would also like to expose him to different types of literature. I do NOT want to just depend only on the various Unseen books which is what they are doing in school, practicing and for tests.. What are your suggestions?! Have a good one----- Margie Margie Cohen-Jackel M.S.S.A, MAJEd. S.
