Hi
Around a month ago I sent a message about the new English language teen
magazine in the Modi'in area. I was overwhelmed by responses from the list,
and I apologize for not being able to get back to everyone immediately.
I have since learned that there is a problem bringing this magazine into
classrooms, becuase they have advertisements in them. And even though I know
some native english classes don't really have proper pikuach anyway so it
may not matter, still, we have to rethink what we can do in the school
system with our magazine. We are discussing it over the next few weeks and I
will send out an update.
Certainly, though you can encourage your students to submit essays,
articles, poetry, comics, photos, and artwork, on subjects of interest to
them -- politics, music, books, aliyah, life, humor, school, or general
reflections. We have a fiction and poetry section as well. Articles should
be between 500 and 1500 words and submitted as a Word document (.doc not
.docx). Original artwork and photography should be submitted as a hi-res
jpeg with an accompanying file of all credits and caption. I cannot
guarantee that all submissions will be published, but they will all be read
and reviewed.
Submissions and questions should be sent to switch.teen.magazine@xxxxxxxxxx

And those of you in the modi'in area should see the hanukah issue of switch
around next week, in pizza shops, the mall, youth groups, and places where
kids hang out (maybe even school!)

With thanks,
Elana
