I'm glad that Bev brought up the issue of advertising on ETNI, so that
I can clarify this issue again.

One of the purposes of ETNI is to help teachers become aware of all
things that may be of interest and relevance to them as teachers of
English. When it comes to teaching resources, some resources will be
free and some will cost money. ETNI could limit itself to just
providing information about free resources, but teachers might be
missing out on valuable resources that do cost something. Our main
purpose here is to help inform.

And here also is where we differentiate between one-time advertising
and blatant advertising. There is a big difference between informing
people of something you have to sell them, and constantly plugging
this item. That is why a company is invited to announce something of
relevance to teachers once, but not more than that. A number of
companies, in the past, have tried to repost information about a
product on the list and we have informed them clearly that they cannot
do so.

This is also a good opportunity to inform you that I am reorganizing
the ETNI home page:
http://www.etni.org
http://www.etni.org.il
and have decided to include on the front page a list of Israeli EFL
Sites (that many ETNIers have created), as well as Israeli EFL
companies (so that ETNIers are better aware of where they can obtain a
variety of resources).
If you have a relevant site for inclusion there, please send me the link.

David
