[etni] Spelled Pronunciation and IPA Pronunciation

Hi Everyone!
I am starting to develop another website to learn English
vocabulary. One of the features I would like to have for
each word is the written pronunciation of each word.
I noticed that many online resources have a spelled
pronunciation and an IPA pronunciation.
French visitors to my Learn English audio site
( http://www.learn-english.co.il ) have asked why I used in the
French section the written spelling pronuniciation and
not the IPA one.
Can someone please explain what is the difference and
which one is used in a learning environment.
