Hi all,
The two main English teachers at our school came down with corona and
unfortunately, one has a pretty bad case and will probably take a while to
recover, while the other's husband has been hospitalized in pretty bad
condition and she's in no shape to be teaching at this point.
They teach 7 classes between them, and we currently have (possible)
coverage for 3 classes only, so we need subs for at least 4 groups, and
maybe more. They've already been out for over 2 weeks, but I'm assuming
it's going to be at least 2 more weeks before they've recovered, if not
more.
*About the school / student population:* Beit Ulpena is a religious girls'
school in Jerusalem for Na'aleh students (from Russia, Ukraine, etc.). The
students are generally very motivated and a pleasure to teach. We have
really small classes to boot. (I think our biggest group this year is 14
students.) Officially, we are allowed to teach frontally even during
lockdown because it's a dormitory school, but between the 11th and 12th
graders currently in quarantine (because they've just returned from
visiting their families abroad), and the fact that we're DESPERATE to get
these classes learning English again, we're willing to hire qualified
teachers from anywhere in the country to teach via Zoom.
*Classes:* Assuming the other subs work out, we need two teachers for 10th
grade (4/5 points and 3/4 points), one teacher for 11th (3 points), and two
teachers for 12th (3 and 4 points).
*Schedule:* Our teaching days are Sundays and Wednesdays. There may be SOME
flexibility, but not too much. Keep in mind that even if you teach via
Zoom, you will have to teach full hours (i.e., 4 hours a week in 10th, 3-5
hours a week in 11th-12th depending on the level), but if you can do most
and not all, again, we can be flexible.
*Qualifications:* Excellent spoken and written English, knowledge of
3/4-point Bagrut requirements (for anyone interested in the 11th-12th grade
classes, and especially the 12th grade classes), religious or willing to
respect the school's standards of attire
