Dear teachers and parents ,
If you want your students/children to learn to develop strong arguments
designed to persuade, to use the right words with the right voice, to think
on their feet and finally, to use humor effectively, this is the right place
for them to be!
Yoni Cohen-Idov Centre for Debate and Rhetoric is proud to invite your
students to participate in a unique Summer Debating Workshop that will be
held in Atid Lod High School for Sciences (a 10 minute drive from the Ben
Gurion Airport and a 5-min. drive from the Lod railway station).
When? 30.06-05.07.2013
Sunday and Thursday-13.00-18.00;
Monday-Wednesday-9.00-15.00
Friday-9.00-13.00
Who: The workshop is intended for students entering 7th to 12th grades and
the official language is English.
Where: on the premises of Atid Lod High School of Science (33 Chaim Moshe
Shapira Street/POB 642 Lod 71106), and we can guarantee that the learning
environment and the atmosphere of this event will make it an unforgettable
learning, debating and relaxing summer camp experience.
About the workshop:
The Summer Debating workshop is a one-week debate event which exposes young
people to the world's most popular method of persuasion in order to enrich
both their oral and social skills by empowering them with sophisticated
tools to discuss ideas, to look at each issue from different perspectives
and argue convincingly and confidently, as well as to speak charismatically
to an audience. Based on thorough knowledge of the subject being debated,
you will acquire the skills of organized thought, rhetoric, clarity,
forceful and convincing style, logic, humor, wit and even irony and sarcasm.
The Workshop Highlights:
1.Acting workshop - a whole day of workshops led by the teachers of Yoram
Levinstein's acting studio, one of Israel's best acting schools.
2. Scavenger Hunt - A thrilling competitive pursuit after the legendary
Harry Potter.
3. Debating IR (international relations) with Tal Mimran, Lawyer expert of
IR and former coach of Jessup International law court debating
tournaments(for advanced groups)
4. Learn from the very best - Interactive workshops led by former national
and international debating champions.
