Hi. Happy Summer for the high school teachers.
Every so often I get a request like this:
Hi Barry, I am in the process of finishing a CTESL course. Can you tell me if
there are any jobs in Israel for this kind of teacher?Thanks
What kind of jobs can you get here with such a certificate?
I recall a horrible story back about 20 years. A couple of American Teachers,
working in Europe, contacted me thru ETNI, came to Israel, and wanted to work
here.
They were qualified and talented, and very idealistic, but they didn't have a
BA in suitable subjects, so they could only receive the lowest salaries. They
could not survive if they worked in schools; and this was when some teachers
were getting an 80% increment just to come teach in the north!
They worked for the British Council for a while and then vanished back into
Bucharest, or maybe Budapest, or both.
So, in short, what are these language certificates worth here?
