Most of the obstacles we must overcome are shaped not by the laws of nature, but by the deeds of others. Most of our desires require interaction with others to be fulfilled. Therefore our measure of success is, to a large extent, a product of our communication and social skills. In order to achieve our full potential we must maximize these skills. The aim of this course for teachers is to study verbal communication, to improve these skills for themselves and to provide teachers with the tools to facilitate the development of these skills in their students. The course employs a unique system of learning and emphasizing active participation instead of lectures. This means that all participants in the course will receive practical experience in the field of public speaking, debating and rhetoric. Furthermore, you will be able to implement many of the activities and to foster the skills acquired in your own classrooms. The theory and the exercises in the course improve the following skills and abilities, among others: - Interpersonal communication - Organizational skills - Analytical thinking skills - Boosting self-confidence - Listening skills - Pluralism and tolerance of different ideas. - Teamwork - Overcoming stage fright Syllabus Day 1 Lesson One: Introduction to effective public speaking: different targeted audiences of public speaking - Introduction to the Structure of Speech o The Attention Grabber o The Target o The Roadmap Lesson Two: - The Body: o Main Structure o Logical Links o Proper Usage of Statistics and Examples o Climax - The Summary o Creating the Effective Closing Day 2 Lesson Three: Fostering the following skills in the classroom: - Building a Persuasive Speech - Impromptu Speaking - Speech Writing Lesson Four: - Introduction to Debate - Different Debating Formats - Parliamentary Debate o Speakers' Roles o Creating a Team Line o Types of Motions Day 3 Lesson Five: - Rebuttal - Logical Fallacies - Points of Information- Day 4 Lesson Six: - Round-Table Debate - Debating Style Lesson Seven: Effective listening -flowcharting - Critical thinking - Constructive feedback - Points of emphasis in a Debate - Judging skills - Facilitating debating in the classroom To register- apply to Bronia Kabakovitch 089211317/0523954625-no messages genady_b@xxxxxxxxxxxx Name-ID-Address-School/levels taught-cell./home phone-e-mail address-all in one message
