Dear Sharon,
Two years ago I taught "Girl With a Pearl Earring" to my yod bet
5-point class, and it was very successful. It's a "coming of age" novel
which explores issues of evolving identity, class and gender. Needless to
say, the evocative, yet simple language makes it accessible. AND---now,
there's the movie!
