**** ETNI on the web http://www.etni.org.il http://www.etni.org ****

In the waning moments of Tisha B'Av, I hope to say the last words on the Native
Speaker controversy, which in my opinion has wandered quite far from its
innocent origins.
There is clearly no one definition of what makes an excellent English teacher,
and language proficiency at Native Speaker level may or may not be an element.

I think a sore spot was hit in both native and non-native teachers of English
and that must be the reason for the volume of defenses of each position.

In the spirit of the day when the temple fell because of a lack of
understanding, empathy and love, what do you say we learn something from
history and give it a rest.

With hope for good times of working together and helping each other on ETNI, I
am

Lisa Harvith
