My favorite is
Latin* sopor quies *(as in soporific = a drug to help you sleep + quiet,
quiescent) =>
Hebrew S'PoR KeVeS translated to English "Count sheep!"
This phrase has been borrowed back into modern Hebrew as
LiSPoR K'VaSiM = to count sheep (plural).
If you are counting them, there must be more than one.
