Shavua Tov , ETNI -Land, Happy New Month of Tevet.
Bagrut coming up this week, Yum yum!
There's a new brand of joke sweeping the dusty brains of our youth, called
Tirshom Tirshom. I happened to come across it because, through my contacts
with the adolescent community, I occasionally get a glimpse of what they are
doing. The joke format is off some show that I don't watch because, in order
to come anywhere near the salary of a corrupt local official with 1/10 of the
years of ecucation that I have, who has time for TV? . . .

. . .

Excuse me, where was I?
This kind of joke is a chain of fake talkbacks, and the kids laugh like we
laughed at Knock- knock jokes. (Actually , I've seen kids running thru the
same elephant jokes we told in the sixties.)

Where can you see an example? You can probably google it thru úøùåí úøùåí .
Yes, here it is:
http://www.tirshom.co.il/

The problem is, I don't 'get' it; I feel like I'm a new Ethiopian immigrant and
someone is trying to teach me Knock Knock jokes.

My first attempt to imitate this style: I'll call it : "Here's a good one!"

Well, I don't think it's funny either. But ask your students for some
"Tirshom"s and tell me if you laughed.
You can also collect some in English from your students, tell them I'll publish
them all except the vulgar ones under the heading "Here's a good one."

/Barry
