Hi Carol, If you would like to lead a discussion in English you could start by watching a short film or clip or reading a short story or article. An overseas news report right now will either start a very active discussion or be the last thing people want to hear, so use your judgement. Other ideas are a TED lecture, sitcom episode, scene from a movie or even a song clip. Or have a debate-type discussion where you raise a question, serious or humurous. If you want to be more adventurous you could have a sing-a-long in English. If you have someone who can play piano or guitar great, if not, just print out song sheets. I have a song sheet which I've used with adults if you'd like it.
