This posting comes from my daughter-in-law in Jerusalem (a very gifted young
mother of 4 who has just submitted her doctorate in the field of brain
research) and who is now busy with the development of her educational website.
At her request I am posting her letter.All queries and information should be

Dear teachers,
My name is Orit Elgavi - Hershler, and I recently started a non-for-profit
Hebrew educational website called "Kita baPita". The idea is to help Israeli
teachers open new educational horizons to school children on a much wider
variety of topics than is normally taught in schools. The standard curriculum
is quite limited and although standardization is important, it is a shame that
no additional topics that can get kids "fired up" are included. Therefore, the
website presents teachers with small stand-alone activities on a wide variety
of topics. Over 12000 people already visited (around 800 a week) and lessons
are being downloaded all over Israel.The site is really managing to get
teachers and students interested in additional subjects and has the potential
to significantly enrich Israeli education. I'm inviting you all to come and
visit Kita baPita, and if you like it, please tell your fellow teachers to
visit as well!
Much of my material comes from English language websites that are often sadly
inaccessible to the average Hebrew speaking teacher. I'm also looking for
volunteers who would be willing to "scour the web" for truly excellent
educational resources and translate one or two activities into Hebrew. If you
