Re class size. Dear David, I had a situation last year that I had the English speakers only 2 hours a week, and I gave extra work, but it is not the same as in class. First of all, you can't do unseens, and if you ask for written work, how can you tell that it wasn't copied straight from the Internet? Reading is ok, but the students don't tend to really take it seriously and use the time that they aren't in English class for other subjects. This year I have NES, 9th grade, 6 of 20 who are straight from America/Australia/England, and the rest are high 5 pts, from English speaking homes, but did not spend time in an English speaking country.. So I chose to use the book Master Class, and have the NES do more of the exercises and the rest, do as much as they can. I am supplementing with literature, using only a few HOTS, to get them used to what they might have to learn next year. Good luck, Rachael Orbach Jerusalem ----------------------------------------------- ** Etni homepage - http://www.etni.org ** for help - ask@xxxxxxxx ** ** to post to this list - etni@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** -----------------------------------------------
